The game behind the game

We Made a Game About Having Opinions.

Out of Ten started amongst friends around a very heated argument about whether Shake Shack or In-n-Out was better. Obviously a debate ensued. But not everyone agreed — and that's exactly the point.

How it started

A Die. Some Prompts. Plenty of Debates.

It started the way most good ideas do, over drinks with friends. The question was simple: if you had to rate Shake Shack out of ten, what would you give it? Everyone answered. Nobody agreed. And then the argument lasted 20 minutes.

That's when it clicked. The fun wasn't the number. It was the gap between everyone's scales. The fact that one person's 7 is another person's 4. The fact that you can learn more about someone from how they rate fast food chains than from most conversations.

Out of Ten is that debate, turned into a game. 200 categories. One die. No right answers. Just a table full of people who are completely certain they're correct.

Why we built it

Games Should Start Conversations, Not End Them.

What we believe

"The best thing about opinions is everyone has one."

Out of Ten exists to turn that into something fun. To give people a reason to sit around a table, argue about nothing important, and find out something real about each other in the process.
